Why does the receptionist have to ask what's wrong with me?
It is not the case of the receptionist being nosey! The reception staff are members of the practice team, and to best assist you with your enquiry they need to ask you "why you need to see a GP or a nurse".
What do I need to bring with me to a regular Doctor's appointment?
Please bring your Medicare Card and if you have a Health Care Card or Department of Veteran Affairs Card. In addition if this is your first visit to the practice we will also need to take a copy of your photo id such as a current drivers licence, photo identity card or passport. You will also be required to complete a New patient registration form.
How do I get my test results?
If your doctor has requested tests for you, it is best to book a follow up appointment within three weeks of having the tests so your doctor can discuss the results with you. If there is a concerning result, your doctor will either contact you by telephone as soon as possible or request that you be booked in for a follow up appointment to discuss the results. You will not be contacted if your results are normal.
Can I be bulk billed for my doctor's appointment?
Family Medical Centre Murrurundi is a mixed billing practice. This means we offer bulk-billing services to aged pensioners, DVA Card holders and children 10yrs and under. All other patients will be billed a private fee and receive a rebate from Medicare subject to eligibility. Payment is required following the conclusion of the consultation.
Can I be vaccinated against Q Fever at your practice?
Yes you can, we runs Q Fever Clinics throughout the year as required. If you require this vaccination please phone the practice on 6545 1600 and speak to Lorraine for information on when the next clinic will be and what paperwork is required.
May I talk to my doctor on the telephone?
You can talk with your doctor on the phone if you have a dedicated telephone consultation appointment booked with them. If you wish to discuss a matter with your doctor, it is best to make an appointment with them. Most queries are best dealt with by consultation, giving you more time to communicate your requests/issues to your doctor.
When are the Flu Clinics on?
Family Medical Centre Murrurundi runs Flu Clinics generally in the Autumn of each year. When we have received the vaccinations we will advertise in the local paper and on this website the exact dates for the clinics and how to book in to the clinic.
